The acai berry is many things. It is rich in antioxidants which help your skin, hair, and nails. It is also a great source of dietary fiber. One thing that people have claimed about the acai berry is that by eating acai berries or taking acai berry capsules fat will melt right off your body, no matter how bad your eating and exercise habits are.

This is simply not true. It’s not true of any weight-loss supplement, despite claims to the contrary. This doesn’t mean that acai isn’t a powerful ally in the war against fat. Taking acai berry capsules, in conjunction with moderate diet and exercise, can help you lose more weight than just diet and exercise alone.

The acai (ah-sah-ee) is a wild berry that grows predominantly in the Brazilian rainforest. The berries come from a type of palm tree called Euterpe Olevacea which grows 10-30 meters tall. The fruit has a deep purple colored skin, much like a concord grape. Inside the berry is a single large seed.

For centuries, South Americans have harvested the acai berry and incorporated it heavily into their daily diets. Acai has become popular because of their reputation as a super food, meaning the berries are packed with healthy and beneficial nutrients and antioxidants. Acai also contains Omega-6 and Omega-9 acids which promote healthy, good cholesterol while limiting the bad. I hope this crash course has given you a bit more insight into what is acai berry.
